Abstract:

Within the next few years, exascale computers will appear and work is already underway to prepare codes for the era in which such machines will have many millions if not billions of cores. Among existing approaches which are likely to be in the vanguard in that domain are lattice-Boltzmann methods. Here we discuss the work underway to prepare for that future, and we look at the array of computing patterns that the exascale will support. The exascale will allow us to begin to perform simulations of virtual humans, along the path toward personalised medicine.
